Beach Camera (online) has a 10MP XTi with the 18-55 II lens for $742. No bag or second lens.
I've done business with these guys and they are reputable. Check www.resellerratings.com

Compare it to the kits at bhphotovideo.com. I'm not sure what their prices on the XT are, but you probably won't find too many better deals than what they have. Plus, if you're not in NY, you won't have to pay sales tax.

I've also done business with BH PhotoVideo. Nice folks.

Well I ended up with the Rebel. I will have to wait to post any photos while I learn how to use this thing.
On a side note, I am flying to Charlotte this week end and I will be taking this camera and lenses, flash etc. I there anything I should be on the lookout going through Security at the airport. I used to just have a camera on my check-in luggage, but I think I want to carry this one with me.
Thanks,
Tim

Pack your tripod and large items like that in your checked baggage, but all memory, camera, batteries, and your charger should stay with you.
It's ok to have it go through the xray, it won't affect anything like film used to be affected. TSA.gov is a good place to get some info. Don't call the airlines, they don't know squat about security.
Also....expect your camera bag to be searched, i.e. even to the point of removing lens caps so they can see that nothing is inside the body of the lens. When you put your bag on the x ray thingy.....let it enter the machine before walking through the metal detector....if they say anything, just tell them you want to see your camera bag enter the machine. That way no little theives can grab it when your back is to it.
Hope that helps. You can even keep your memory cards in a case in your pocket if you don't trust them to go through the xray machine. They shouldn't set anything off.
